Following the £1m plus restoration of the Grade II listed building, built in 1856, The Central finally opened its doors again in 2010. Dubbed ´The Coffin´ by locals because of its unusual shape, The Central is now fully restored to its Victorian Splendour complete with rooftop terrace. Quite simply the best ale house in Gateshead, The Central serves up to 13 handpulls and 2 kegged ales as well as a selection of bottled beers, quality wines and spirits from around the world.
