Formed in 1981, Celtic rock combo Big Country were initially driven by a shared vision of widescreen guitar melody, harmony and lyric. Releasing their debut album The Crossing in 1983, the band broke worldwide with the album’s classic singles Fields Of Fire, Chance, and signature song In A Big Country, which went on to become massive worldwide hits, selling over two million copies and driving The Crossing to three prestigious Grammy nominations in the USA. The run of success continued throughout the 1980′s with the release of the anthemic single Wonderland and the second album Steeltown (1984), which debuted at Number 1 in the UK and contained the hit singles East Of Eden, Just a Shadow, and Where The Rose Is Sown. Further hits followed, including Look Away, King Of Emotion, Peace In Our Time, Ships (Where Were You), and more. Praised by The Rolling Stones (after supporting them for both Voodoo Lounge and Bridges To Babylon stints) and co-writing with The Kinks´ Ray Davies, they also recorded a duet with Eddi Reader (Fragile Thing), and appeared at Live Aid. The tragic death of co-founder Stuart Adamson in 2001 effectively bought the first chapter of the Big Country story to a close. But calls to reunite swelled over the years, eventually prompting a return to touring and recording, with acclaimed appearances at such festivals as Isle Of Wight, V, Cropredy, and 2017’s Celtic Connections.
