Hunter Muskett
London
Hunter Muskett is an acoustic/electric 3-piece playing distinctive original songs in a folky, bluesy sometimes Americana vein.
Originally formed in 1969 they played at home and abroad until 1974 producing two, now collectable, albums: Every Time You Move with bassist Danny Thompson and the Keith Relf produced Hunter Muskett with drummer Michael Giles
Doug Morter went on to carve out a career as the ‘go-to’ vocalist/guitarist of the folk-rock scene. His extensive recording credits lead to him being dubbed ‘The invisible man of folk-rock’ by Acoustic Magazine.
Since reforming in 2010 Hunter Muskett now tours again and have released two albums of new material: ´That Was Then This Is Now´ in 2013 and ´Unafraid and Sober´ in 2016.
Reviews:
Every Time You Move (re-released by Cherry Red Records, 2009):
‘..an underground gem.’ Jan Zarebs, Record Collector Magazine
‘ masterly skirts the boundaries of baroque pop and folk-rock’ Rolling Stone
That Was Then This Is Now (Limefield 2013)
‘…unpretentious, classy…much better than it has any right to be If Bill Leader does nothing more in the world of recording, ‘That Was Then, This Is Now’ will have been a glorious way to bow out.’ Colin Harper (biographer of Bert Jansch) in The Afterword
‘…one band that doesn’t have to stand on past glories’
Record Collector Magazine
Unafraid and Sober (2016)
.. a lovely album full of great songwriting, lush vocal harmonies and superb musicianship..
… remarkable that a band can get back together after forty years and produce an album which sounds so fresh and relevant to today.
