For over 20 years, Steamchicken have been delighting audiences with their own brand of fun. In Ceilidhs, concerts, bar sets and workshops, the 7 talented and versatile musicians bring musical genres together in a way that shouldn´t work but does. Piano, melodeon, harmonica, vocals and percussion combine with a tightly knit horn section to provide entertainment that goes way beyond a dance or a song.

Now, the genre mavericks, who demand both your attentive ears and each one of your dancing feet, are back with a new album for 2017, the first recording to feature the smashing vocals of Amy Kakoura and it comes complete with a new sound for the band.

A unique mixture of jubilant jazz, funked-up folk and a sprinkling of just about every other genre Steamchicken could get their hands on. The largely self-penned album shows the strong storytelling drive behind the band, with topics such as the weather at sea (Western Approaches), adultery (Gypsy) and feminism in ancient Greece (Foot Falling), all being given the chicken treatment.

“a mulch of jazz, folk and American hoedown - hilarious“ - The Times (Hot Tickets)
“Good Noisy Fun“ - fRoots
“Just have to be seen live“ - Living Tradition
