The Beguilers

The Beguilers

Fred Thomas’ latest album ‘The Beguilers’ weaves crafted song-writing into the narratives of poems by William Blake, Emily Brontë, William Shakespeare, James Joyce, Walter Savage Landor and Thomas Carew. Drawing on a wonderfully strange repository of musical influences – English folk, Joao Gilberto, Minimalism, the Aka Pigmies, The Beatles, and the English Madrigal School – Fred Thomas’ settings delicately bring the poets’ images and metaphors to life with finely wrought harmonies and luscious melodies. Joining Fred for his album launch will be an all star line-up assembled specially for the occasion: Pete Flood (Bellowhead), Alex Bonney (Bill Frisell), Nat Keen (Flying Ibex), Liam Byrne (Damon Albarn), Dave Shulman (Cleo Lane), all unified by the hauntingly beautiful voice of Ellie Rose Rusbridge (Beardy Man). Expect spell-binding poetry, unearthly grooves and hypnotising interplay from a special group of musicians for a unique and one-off performance at The Winemakers Club. Limited edition copies of ‘The Beguilers’ will be available for sale.
