Manchester Folk Festival

Manchester Folk Festival

19 - 22 October 2017

Manchester Folk Festival is an urban folk festival that will take place every autumn in and around HOME in Manchester city centre.  The spotlight is on English folk, in all its guises. Manchester Folk Festival picks up where Homegrown in Bury left off.

"With our roots firmly in the traditions of the past, we have our eyes on the future, seeking out new talent and listening for new voices. Manchester Folk Festival will not only present some of the biggest names in the industry, we’ll introduce you to your future favourites.

Contemporary folk straddles genres, embraces different cultures and absorbs new influences. Our aim is to profile the incredible range of great music that is described as folk and bring you the best of the current scene.

The whole festival takes places into one area of the city over one weekend.  With indoor gigs and outdoor entertainment, workshops and a festival hub where you can catch your breath and catch up with friends, we want to create the feel of a greenfield festival in the vibrant heart of the city.

Come along, slow down for the weekend. Listen to music, connect with friends, make discoveries.

We’re brand new this year, and we’re really happy to welcome you."

The great line-up includes top folk artists such as Kathryn Tickell, Jon Boden, John Smith, Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker, Afro Celt Sound System and The Young´uns, as well as up-and-coming bands like Young Waters and The Nightjar.

Events are individually priced, so you can pick exactly what you want to see across the weekend and make your own perfect festival.
