Winner of the BBC Young Folk Award, Jarlath Henderson launches his critically acclaimed debut solo album in conjunction with the tenth anniversary of the Nest Collective - London´s ground-breaking acoustic folk club.

Renowned primarily for his extraordinary prowess on uilleann pipes and whistles before his fast emergence as an equally gifted vocalist, Henderson has performed and recorded with many household names of the UK folk scene, including the Transatlantic Sessions, Capercaillie, LAU, Michael McGoldrick and Phil Cunningham.

Jarlath’s debut album, ‘Hearts Broken, Heads Turned’, was premiered at Celtic Connections 2016. Comprising of striking yet sensitive arrangements of traditional songs, it wouldn´t be an understatement to refer to this record as long awaited – Henderson’s debut solo album has been in the pipeline since he was crowned the youngest ever winner of the BBC Young Folk Award in 2003. The new album marks a more decisive broadening of his creative and expressive range, as well as a means of reconnecting with traditions close to home.

Jarlath will be launching his debut album on 30th March at The Old Queens Head, Islington. A Nest Collective event, Jarlath will be joined on stage by Henderson by musicians Angus Lyon (Blazin’ Fiddles, The Halton Quartet), Duncan Lyall (Treacherous Orchestra, Kate  Rusby), Innes Watson (Treacherous Orchestra, Mike Vass) and Andrea Gobbi  (Laki Mera).
