Dipper Malkin at Stroud Green Festival

Dipper Malkin at Stroud Green Festival

6th - 24th June 2018, Classical/Jazz/Folk/Dance/Theatre, Internationally acclaimed musicians, 20 events + free pop-up performances

Stroud Green Festival is a community event for people who are curious about music.

Much of the music might be classified as classical or early music – and there is always a jazz and a folk event each year. But this festival is more interested in open borders than boundaries – for some of the events, it is hard to tell where classical ends and folk starts.

There’s something for everyone, some events are free, others reasonably priced. Several are Family Friendly. And many are quirky or for the curious.

On 10th June Folk Duo Dipper Malkin will be playing at the Earl Haig Hall

TRICKS OF THE TRADE:
John Dipper viola d’amore
Dave Malkin guitar, voice

Dipper Malkin’s CD was in the top 10 of The Times top 100 albums of 2017! This programme celebrates the viola d’amore in a folk music context and its combination with voice and guitar. The viola d’amore is an expressive baroque instrument with seven bowed and seven sympathetic strings.

“There aren’t many who can sculpt and carve music and song in this way. Their playing is both moving and thrilling…. And they do the greatest service to the tradition by writing new material to keep it alive.” Verity Sharp - Late Junction, BBC Radio 3

“Two hugely talented and creative musicians, a potent combination!” Folk Radio UK

Tickets: £7, £4 concs (Event 8)
