Since releasing her 2013-issued debut ‘The Traveller’s Song’, which stimulated interest across Europe, the USA and Canada, Lizabett Russo has continued to develop and fine-tune a style and character that is refreshingly her own.
She toured Japan and Seoul in 2015 and 2016, latterly to showcase material from her latest release, “The Burning Mountain”.
Reviewing the CD for Acoustic magazine, Julian Piper applauded her “Björk-like intensity” while fRoots praised her “astonishing vocal range” and added: “This is an artist who is well worth investigating.”
When he gave his assessment to Fatea magazine, Peter Taranaski wrote: “Why she is not bigger than she is, I honestly do not know. She is the most interesting new artist I have heard this year.”
That buzz led to a successful appearance at the 2016 Cambridge Folk Festival and she started the New Year with a bang as well with appearances at Celtic Connections Festival.
