Kadialy Kouyate is a musician, a singer songwriter inspired by the West African Griot repertoire. Born into the great line of Kouyate Griot in Southern Senegal, Kadialy’s mesmerising kora playing and singing style have been appreciated in many prestigious venues as both a soloist and in different ensembles.

His has played with Roswell Rudd’s New York Jazz Group MALIcool in a collaborative concert with the Scottish BBC Symphony Orchestra in 2005 as well as playing with them at the Frankfurt Jazz Festival In 2006.

In 2008, Kadialy played the kora for its first ever representation at the “2do Festival Mundial Del Arpa” in Paraguay. He is featured on the West One Music album Champions of Africa – specially commissioned for the 2010 World Cup.

In 2011 an exciting new project with Baaba Maal resulted in headlining the WOMAD stage and recordings at Abbey Road Studios. Extended sessions with Baaba Maal also resulted in studio sessions with Mumford and Sons in 2014.

In May 2012 Kadialy took part in a unique production of Julius Caesar by the Royal Shakespeare Company. Directed by RSC Artistic Director Designate Gregory Doran. He toured with the production for seven months around the UK, Moscow and the United States.
In September 2015 Kadialy took part in the remaking of the all time TV mini series ROOTS directed by Philip Noyce, a renowned Australian director. The first episode has been shot in different part of South Africa where Kadialy has spent two months shooing is role as the Griot but also as a cultural consultant.

Kadialy has played: the Royal Festival Hall, the O2 Arena, amongst others. European tours, Australia, North America. Radio and TV appearances: BBC Radio 3 ‘World Routes’; Charlie Gillett’s ‘World of Music; BBC World Service: Radio and Television. Etc…
