Glasgow’s The Strange Blue Dreams play dramatic pop, gypsy swing, skiffle, doo-wop and ballads from the music hall to the jet-age. The band started 2015 with a small and devoted fan base which merited the term cult following. Described by Vic Galloway (BBC) as “a Glaswegian version of the legendary?pop, rock ‘n’ roll and country Nashville A-team session aces of the late 1950s”, the band comprises five of Scotland’s most in demand roots musicians. They had played at the Glastonbury Festival, performed sold out shows at The Edinburgh Festival and also featured in a BBC TV documentary.

The group is united by a love of the mavericks of popular songwriting from Morricone to Meek, Ellington to Orbison. their deft lyrics framed by atmospheric arrangements, impassioned performances and the band’s trademark soaring harmony vocals.

Their new LP, a collection of songs that passionately distil the various golden ages of popular song into a unique and compelling new sound combining “menacing surf-noir with skiffling eastern rock ‘n’ roll from a parallel universe” (Medicine Music), is set for release on 20th October on Holy Smoke Records.

“A spooky musical backdrop of gospel, early rock’n’roll, R&B, rockabilly and country…Strange Blue Dreams indeed.” – Glasgow Herald
