Compánach is a performance of Irish music, song and dance which uses a backdrop of photographic images in a narrative which links place, cultural life and music in the history of Ireland. Based on the encyclopedia Companion to Irish Traditional Music, the Compánach show is a fabulous night of immersion in the music, people and landscape of Ireland. It features music from every county on the island of Ireland with repertoire and style from each region; all tune-types are played, with unaccompanied song in Irish and in English. No introductions are used – instead fast-moving, large-screen images connected to the tunes being played at any moment lead the audience through this fiesta of traditional Irish music and live dance.
Music will be performed by the brilliant musicians Fintan Valley (flute), Gerry O’Conner (fiddle), Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn (uilleann pipes) with singer Róisín Chambers and dancer Sibéal Davitt.
