´Ebullient, heartfelt alt-folk duo´
After the success of their debut album, ´Beyond Brushes´, Stables are set to release their second studio album ´Reverie´.
´Reverie: a state of being pleasantly lost in one´s thoughts; a daydream.´
Matthew wrote the album at the beginning of 2017 whilst going through relationship turmoils, in a period of unrest: ´It´s an almost breakup album, reflecting on the ups and downs of a lengthy relationship through the eyes of someone daydreaming´.
The alt-folk duo was formed by Matthew Lowe (Keston Cobblers Club) and Daniel Trenholme in January 2016, releasing their debut album just four months after going public in August ´16, completing their first UK headline tour the same year and gaining a strong industry and fan following, including the championing of BBC DJ Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson and featuring on BBC Radio 6´s Music Recommends programme.
In 2017 Stables furthered their reach, playing numerous festivals including Glastonbury and announcing a 3 week European headline tour for November around Germany, France, Switzerland and Belgium. In August the duo released the date of their second album, including an album launch concert at London´s St Pancras Old Church, which sold out five months in advance.
´Reverie is the record we always set out to create when we formed Stables. We love our debut, but have never been more proud of an album´ says Matthew.
Stables play live with energy, jumping between big, catchy numbers and heartfelt, plaintive tracks. ´We wanted this album to reflect how we perform on stage, with the variety and depth of a full set. I wrote it as an intimate portrayal of a period in my life, which Daniel and I reshaped and added to together whilst touring.´
