Raleigh Rye is a distinctive American folk and blues songwriting troubadour, who has been hotfooting across the United States following in the footsteps of his musical heroes.
Growing up in Santa Monica and Topanga Canyon, Raleigh set off with a guitar in a 66 VW van to New Orleans. The city met all expectations with its vast resources of music, dance and Cajun cuisine.
Raleigh relocated to Austin, Texas, living in an old converted train depot off East 6th Street. Here he befriended Joe Ely and the Flatlanders and other local songwriter musicians.
In Austin he met some travelling folksingers from New York City. They hooked him up with a rent control apartment on McDougal Street in Greenwich Village, where he formed a country rock band The Tobacco Boys. The band performed all over the North East and later moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
Raleigh Rye, still based in New York City, is currently pursuing his solo career and will be releasing an album in Autumn 2016.

“I´m never one to question the whys and wherefores coming through radio airwaves on a hot Louisiana night. But somewhere through the static at the far end of the car radio dial...As I lit a cigarette and took a drag, mingling with my dreams forgotten and loves lost, I hear Raleigh Rye, Skull and Bone Rag.“ -Stax D
