Simon Stanley Ward is a young country singer, with a strong streak of the surreal running through his veins. He sounds like the original lonesome cowboy crooner – a perfect cross between Neil Young and Charlie Rich, with a voice to match. Picture yourself on the way to the Half Moon in 1975, you´re off to see Hank Wangford and Dr Feelgood, you mistakenly drop acid and end up in the comedy store. There´s no comic though, it´s a hard-rocking country act, the kind of country that spawned Elvis and Johnny Cash. Pub-rock, killer country, songs in whale-language and a superbly tight band that includes Danny & The Champions of the World guitarist Paul Lush in it´s ranks, thats Simon Stanley Ward and The Shadows of Doubt.
