No member of ‘ The Colour of Whisky’ lives or, to the best of our available knowledge, has ever lived near the sea but it´s a recurring reference in lyrics and music for this new Glasgow based 4 piece. Maybe it’s the romantic memory of mariners past, with short days on land and a thirst to slake that draws us to the ocean. There is also to be found here a warm melancholy, a feeling of nights shared around a fire with communal song and the spirit of shared loss and celebration, brought to life on acoustic guitars, banjo, flute, piano and 4 part vocal harmonies. Biff Smith, Katie McArthur, Jo Shaw and Paul Tasker have collectively played in many bands over the years, but this is their first collaboration together. Drawing from country music, classical, blues, gypsy, folk and a bit of flamenco too, everybody contributes from their varied musical histories to create an eclectic blend of lyrical storytelling. Formed in November 2014, the first 12 months has seen the band establish themselves as a major draw in the live scene, while working on their debut album
