It’s been a long time coming, but Camden’s famous venue The Jazz Cafe will be reopening its doors on Wednesday 25th May. Following a £3 Million refurbishment undertaken after the venue was bought by The Columbo Group in January, The Jazz Cafe will now be part of the same family as The Blues Kitchen, XOYO, Paradise By Way of Kensal Green, The Nest, The Old Queen’s Head and new Brixton club Phonox. 

To commemorate the occasion, Columbo have put together a fortnight’s worth of exciting music that aims to illustrate the venue’s broad and forward thinking programming for the future.

The opening event comes courtesy of fast rising south London label 22a, who will be showcasing their unique take on jazz and soul with both live and DJ sets.

Paying homage to the venue’s rich heritage in hip-hop, The Jazz Café welcomes super producer Just Blaze for a Wax Poetics showcase, Dam-Funk who heads up a Stones Throw night as well as trap king Waka Flocka Flame who plays with Darq E Freaker for All Trap Music.

Cutting edge electronic music comes in the form of The Dave Harrington Group’s album launch and headline live shows from Pantha du Prince, Darkstar and Portico. 

Mammal Hands and Pete Josef come together for another jazz special on Tuesday 31st May, rounding off the fortnight with a dub and reggae affair of old and new, featuring Mad Professor and Daddy G alongside Kiko Bun and Cadenza.

With a new ‘urban’ art deco look, The Jazz Café will also sport new tech to improve sound quality overall. Columbo have reportedly looked to improve the iconic venue, whilst respecting and ensuring the preservation of The Jazz Café’s lineage.
