Ron has been closely involved with music and musicians since 1978 he started in the Carnarvon Castle in Chalk Farm working with The Ramones and The Clash and a year later he opened the Royal Exchange as a venue presenting, amongst many others, The Stray Cats, Albert Lee, Ron Kavanagh and Dire Straits.
In 1985 Ron moved South of the Thames (Deptford, SE8) and took over the Royal Albert, featuring Jools Holland, Flaco Jiménez and local talent. By 1990, Ron was promoting at the GIG at the Amersham Arms in New Cross, presenting Squeeze, Sepultura, Manfred Man, Florence Welch, Chaz & Dave and Desmond Dekker. For almost 10 years, Ron worked with Jim Driver (Rhythm Festival) at the famous 100 Club in Oxford Street, W1 at which they worked with Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, James Burton, Roy Harper and Wilco Johnson.
Ron loves jazz, his favourite musician being Charlie Parker. He enjoys listening to Jamie Cullum, Dr. John and Diz Watson. Having said that, Ron is open to almost anything that is well played and he has supported many young musicians, some of whom have gone onto greater fame (See above).
In between gigs, Ron and his van tour Britain with all kinds of musical ensembles from Goth and Surfers, hardcore pop, jazz, ska to good old fashioned Rhythm and Blues.
