Caitriona Ní Cheannabháin

Caitríona Ní Cheannabháin is a native irish speaker from the west of Ireland 40 km ( 50 miles ) from Galway city in a small quiet place in Ard East Carna.

She was very fortunate to be born into a very musical Canavan Family, she grew up with parents Michael a very well known sean-nós singer and musician, her Mother Nora a singer and along with her 6 brothers and 4 sisters ,songs and music was a part of every day living ,her Dad and her Granny always singing ,lilting and playing melodeon.She has shared the big stages in Ireland and Abroad with the likes of Dubliners, Sean Keane, Cunningham Family , John Hogan , Mike Flavin , Paddy o Brien , Derek Ryan, Daniel Ó Donell and was featured in the big Tom tribute show on tg4She can be seen on TG4 in Opry Nuir , Fonnadóirí na hAirde, Opry Dhoire, RTE cursaí ,Abair Amhràn and was a judge on Talent competition feis and Blood .Bosca Ceoil and most recent in the family show Ceol ón Chlann Tg4. You can hear her voice in Bob Quinn and Bill Whealan film Poitín, Cathal Black film Korea and alongside Adrian Dunbar and Colm Meanney in show Harry Became A Tree .Her first recording was done when she was 12 yrs with her father by Clo Iar Chonnachta ,it was every young girls dream to be on cover of a tape especially beside her Hero her Dad , she has 4 songs on the cassette Cruach na Caoille , then went along years later to record her solo album Sólàs , mixture of Ballads ,Irish country and her Sean nós songs as well as newly written song by her young brother Pól ó Ceannabhàin written for their Mom Grà Do Mháthair, her second album Songs from The Mist … she was inspired by teaching her own style of Sean nós in the schools around Conemara and travelling the country teaching summer schools like Tubbercurry South Sligo School, Willie Clancy festival ,and in Colleges around Ireland.. she decided to record an album for children and for new people interested in Sean nós and Irish singing called Póta Mór Fataí …Always a joy to meeting New & Old friends in the music family and looking forward to sharing my songs and stories in the life ahead please God.
