Eimear McGeown & James Carty with Jonas Fromseier

Eimear McGeown and James Carty met on the London session scene and have been performing together for the past 3 years. Their repertoire includes material from a wide variety of sources including from shared influences such as the great Sligo flute player Séamus Tansey and also some of Eimear´s own compositions.
Eimear started Irish flute at a young age with the legendary Séamus Tansey and won two All Ireland titles. She moved to London to study Classical flute at Trinity College of Music and was awarded a 1st Class Honours degree. She has appeared as soloist on BBC´s Last Night of the Proms and in Carnegie Hall, New York performing on both Classical and Irish flutes.
Eimear launched her debut album Inis, at the Irish Embassy in London hosted by Ambassador Adrian O´Neill and has performed compositions from it in the Kennedy Centre, Washington and Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing. She has performed as a soloist throughout USA, South America, South Korea, Japan, China, The Philippines, Russia and
Europe and played on BBC Radio, Classic FM and RTE Lyric FM.
Her diverse credits include recording at the Abbey Road Studios, for the World´s largest video game, ‘Runescape’ with over 200 million players and in Lord of the Rings in the West
End, London. Eimear is involved in the Pop music scene and has played support for Ed Sheeran, with Jennifer Hudson on TV show The Voice, with folk rock band Amsterdam at the Glastonbury Festival, and played support to The Pogues in the Echo Arena, Liverpool.
Fiddle player James Carty from Boyle, Co Roscommon, comes from a long line of traditional Irish musicians and a family highly respected in the traditional idiom. James however is cutting his own path in the traditional music scene with his own distinctive style which he developed having grown up listening to the recordings of the old Sligo masters Michael Coleman, James Morrison, Paddy Killoran to name just three. He has performed
throughout Ireland, the UK, Canada and the USA exploring the rich and varied tapestry of the of North Connaught fiddle tradition. He has performed live on RTE Radio 1 and on BBC
Radio 2, other notable performances include at the Irish Embassy in London in 2018 and at the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Drogheda in 2019.
In 2017 he released his debut solo album Hiding Daylight in Dark Corners to critical acclaim. In 2020 he released a duet collaboration with John Carty called The Wavy Bow Collection.
James has appeared as a guest on recordings with Gradam Ceoil winners Harry Bradley on Flute The First of May and Brian Rooney on At Complete Ease which was described as “a milestone fiddle recording“
Complimenting the flute and fiddle music will be accompaniment from Jonas Fromseier on Bouzouki. Originally from Denmark, Jonas Fromseier took up the banjo in his teens. Born on a small island, he would travel to the mainland every month to go the nearest session in Copenhagen and learn tunes from the local players, both Irish and Danish. At twenty-one Jonas moved to Ireland to play music full-time and spent 7 years there, meeting and playing with numerous legends in Irish music, and taking up bouzouki and guitar. He joined Arcady 3, formed the band Mórga, and has toured extensively in Europe and the US in different constellations. Most recently Jonas recorded a duo album with David Munnelly, and featured
on John and James Carty´s latest release The Wavy Bow Collection
