Wiyaala, meaning “the doer” in her local Sissala language, is an award-winning musician and entertainer from Funsi in Ghana’s Upper West Region. Blending West African folk traditions with contemporary Afro-Pop, she is known for her energetic performances, dancing and multilingual songs. Since winning the Vodafone Icons Reality Show in 2012, Wiyaala has performed at festivals and events around the world, including WOMAD UK, SummerStage New York and the Commonwealth Games 2018. She has released three albums: Wiyaala (2014), Sissala Goddess (2018) and African Polyglot (2024).
