Hilary Spencer

Hilary is well-known as “That Voice” in international award winning British
acappella trio ARTISAN.
In 1997 she also joined Les Barker’s wonderful and totally barmy Mrs Ackroyd
Band and continues to perform with Alison Younger and Chris Harvey
continue to honour Les’ musical legacy and perform as MRSACKROYD.
In 2002 she joined forces with the amazing and extraordinarily talented singer
songwriter and guitarist Grant Baynham as QUICKSILVER until Grant’s tragically
early passing in July 2022
– Now singing solo again with her usual gusto!.
Scottish and Irish songs and tunes, including Scottish Gaelic singing, as well as music from contemporary folk artists. Their sets are made up of modern compositions by musicians who are at the heart of the living folk scene, while others can be traced back centuries. They love the stories behind these tunes and their roots, whether old or new.
Expect fiery toe-tapping reels, reimagined sets with a contemporary spin, ancient airs or all kinds in between
John is a mighty oak of the English tradition, an acclaimed and MBE-decorated English folk musician and one of the most prolific figures on the scene, having performed in every format from solo shows to folk rock bands like Steeleye Span and numerous ceilidh bands He has established an enviable reputation as an instrumental virtuoso on melodeon, Anglo concertina and button accordion as well as being a powerhouse singer.

Cohen is at the forefront of his generation of English folk musicians as both a powerful and commanding singer and a masterful player of the Anglo concertina and melodeon. Since bursting onto the scene in his teens, award-winning Cohen has toured extensively across the UK and abroad, both as a soloist and with the much-loved energetic trio Granny’s Attic.

Expect visceral performances of traditional songs and tunes and a few surprises along the way. Spoiler alert: get ready for the world’s first duet for bass Anglo concertinas!
