Julie July, Folk Rock Album Tour 2026

ulie July returns to The HopBarn - Southwell with heartfelt folk-rock, rich harmonies and songs from their forthcoming album.
Julie July and her band return once again to the Hopbarn — bringing their distinctive blend of contemporary folk-rock, expressive vocals and evocative storytelling. Having performed to enthusiastic audiences here in previous years, Julie July is delighted to be back at one of her favourite gatherings.
The band’s roots are deeply connected to the music of the late Sandy Denny, whose writing and voice helped define the golden era of British folk-rock. Julie first came to prominence performing songs from Sandy’s celebrated catalogue — honouring her legacy with sensitivity and authenticity — while gradually opening the door to original material shaped by the band’s creative contributors. Sandy’s influence continues to flow through their sound: the poetic lyricism, emotional resonance, and timeless melodic sensibility.
In 2026, Julie July will be releasing her fourth original album — a body of work that moves beyond homage to capture the essence of 70s folk-rock while re-imagining it for the 21st century. The new songs are rooted in tradition yet boldly forward-looking, blending classic inspiration with modern songwriting, contemporary themes and fresh musical textures.
With influences from Fleetwood Mac, Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Strawbs and Richard & Linda Thompson, the Julie July Band deliver uplifting sets filled with harmony, heart and dynamic musicianship.
July live with her full six-piece band — delivering a powerful night of dynamic, uplifting folk-rock at the Hopbarn, Southwell.

• “Flight Of Fancy is a really enjoyable album and it’s not at all fanciful to conclude that the Julie July Band continue to soar and continue to deliver great music.” — Darren Johnson (Darren’s Music Blog)
· “Julie July Band purvey a summery vibe of soft rock straight out of the late 60s/early 70s… Flight of Fancy arrives full of nostalgia and reflection.”
— Ian Croft (Rock n Reel Magazine)
• “Flight of Fancy … a confident and assured album. … Imagine, if Fleetwood Mac, Fairport Convention, Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Mamas & The Papas didn’t exist… then neither would Julie July Band. However, don’t make the assumption the band are simply retrospective.” Swilgate Scuttler (SLAP Mag)
• “This is a band growing in confidence, reaching into its huge well of collective experience and delivering some fine music, exquisite vocals and harmonies and striking songwriting.” — Darren Johnson on Wonderland
• “Here we have an album of impeccably crafted and performed songs with plenty to say. Delivered by a band of consummate musicians. Every track is a delight. Nothing is overplayed or overstated. Every performance is balanced and given in a totally enjoyable manner.” — Alan Hewitt (Musicians Corner)
