Excitement around the new Indiana Jones film just released is running high, and so it is quite something to have on the LAAF stage Algerian-born Abdelkader Saadoun and his band Takaleed who are performing in it! Masters of Raï and Chaabi music - which draw their influences from Kabil, Gnawa, Andalusian and Chawia music and absorbs elements of pop, flamenco, jazz, funk, rock, reggae, fusion and blues - this fantastic ensemble performs traditional percussive instruments, mainly the darbuka, karkabou, bendir, mandola, and saz, fusing them with more familiar Western European instruments. Theirs is rhythmic music from the Middle East, the Arab World and North Africa that will make you want to dance!
