Gráinne Brady

Gráinne Brady is an Irish fiddle player, composer and songwriter from County Cavan. Drawing on both Irish and Scottish musical traditions, her work bridges traditional and contemporary folk music, with a focus on storytelling, migration, memory and human connection.
After many years in Glasgow’s folk and traditional music scene, she returned to Ireland, bringing with her a distinctive musical voice shaped by both countries’ traditions. Her compositions have been recorded by artists including Patsy Reid, Tina Jordan Rees, Top Floor Taivers and The Routes Quartet.
Gráinne has released three solo albums: The Road Across the Hills, inspired by the writings of Patrick MacGill; Newcomer, which expanded that narrative through arrangements for strings, French horn and piano; and Back and Forth (2026), a collection of traditional tunes and contemporary compositions reflecting her musical journey across Ireland and Scotland.
A regular performer at Celtic Connections, she has appeared as part of the festival’s New Voices series and presented her work on both BBC Alba and TG4. Alongside her work as a performer and composer, Gráinne is also developing her songwriting, with her forthcoming album The Highest Blossom set for release in 2027.
