Session A9

Session A9

Now in their 20 year, Session A9 feature the stunning fiddles of Charlie
McKerron, Gordon Gunn, Kevin Henderson and Adam Sutherland with Brian McAlpine on piano, Marc Clement on guitar and vocals and David ‘Chimp’ Robertson on percussion.

Over the last 20 years, Session A9 have earned their reputation as one of the best live bands in the country adored by fellow artists and the wider public alike. With band members having played key roles in Capercaillie, The Peat Bog Faeries, The Boys of the Lough, Fiddler’s Bid, Blazin’ Fiddles, The Treacherous Orchestra and Iron Horse, it’s no wonder they are frequently described as a “Scottish Supergroup.”

Renowned Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean testified, “The best band to have come out of Scotland in 100 years!” and The Proclaimers proclaimed Session A9 as “Tighter than James
Brown.” – great praise indeed for a band formed in 2001 through informal music sessions up and down the arterial Scottish road, the A9.

Over the years, appearances at Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival, Celtic Connections, The Hebridean Celtic Festival, Shetland Folk Festival and The Orkney Folk Festival, with European festival sorties including Lorient (Brittany), Ortiguera (Spain), Tønder (Denmark) and Celtica (Italy), have cemented A9’s reputation as one of the most exciting live acts to come out of Scotland.
