Severn Folk September 2026 (Lauren South)

Severn Folk Club’s first guest night (ever!) features Lauren South, an incredible songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and one half of duo Donnelly and South. As well as Lauren’s performance, there will also be support from a local floor performer and the resident “Reabrook B Band”, as well as the usual Folky shenanigans that regulars to the club have come to expect!

Members will get a discount on their ticket but they will need to buy their ticket via the booking form here to receive this discount. Lauren is also running a “Scratch Fiddle” workshop in the afternoon for anyone who would like to have a go at playing the Fiddle (no experience necessary and instruments will be provided). If you buy a ticket for both the workshop and the concert together, you will receive a discount (applied at checkout. Members get their discount on top of this but again will need to buy their ticket on a club night). Due to the way the system works, if buying through Ticket Source and for more than one person, you will need to do a booking for each set of tickets to get the discount..

The venue is the Reabrook Club in Shrewsbury (opposite Cineworld). The club has limited parking and cold drinks are available from the bar. All ages are welcome but under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Residing in Warwickshire, Lauren South is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist renowned for her original compositions and traditional melodies. With the accompaniment of tenor guitar, fiddle, and shruti box, her songs exude heartfelt emotion and vivid imagery, drawing inspiration from her passion for the nocturnal heavens, the natural world, and her journey through motherhood. Lauren’s debut solo album, Tiny Boat, was released in November 2023 to critical acclaim, with tracks featuring on FATEA’s Spring Showcase 2024, BBC Lincolnshire and Shropshire folk shows, and BBC Introducing.

Beyond her solo endeavours, Lauren is an enthusiastic collaborator and is often found playing alongside John Parker (double bass) and Keith Donnelly (guitar).

Lauren is also a regular performer on the UK folk circuit and has been playing folk festival main stages since 2019.
