Steve Crawford & Sabrina Palm

Steve Crawford is a singer and guitarist from Aberdeen, Scotland known through working with bands such as Catford, Ballad of Crows, Le Clou and his duet together with harmonica virtuoso Spider Mackenzie. Fiddler Sabrina Palm is a key figure in the German Irish music and education scene and has worked with the likes of Alan Doherty, Paddy Keenan and Ruben Bada among many other veterans of the folk world. In their five years working together they have established themselves as one of the most successful Scottish/Irish music duos in Germany. Tours in Scotland, Ireland, Belgium, Holland and France have gained them an international audience for their music. The release of their second album ‘Two’ has been met with a strong resonance in the press including rave reviews and Album of the Week on BBC Radio nan Gaidheal.
With a surprisingly rich and full sound, Steve Crawford & Sabrina Palm are equally effective playing in smaller, intimate venues or on festival stages with their ability to quickly build a relationship with their audience. Great stories delivered with charm accompany a finely balanced collection of instrumental tunes and songs, at times pulling on the heart-strings with exquisite ballads and delicate melodies, in other moments raising the roof with raucous, high-energy jigs and reels.
Traditional material drawn from historical collections is complemented by new compositions that display a knack for catchy and detailed melodies accompanied by a wide array of rhythms and dynamic arrangements. Steve brings past experience as a drummer playing jazz, latin, funk, rock and bluegrass while Sabrina has spent many years studying the fiddle traditions of Ireland and Scotland.
Since the release of their debut album ‘In Balance‘ in 2015 the duo have toured extensively, playing a host of theatres, festivals and folk clubs. They often perform as a trio, having added Conor Mallon (uilleann pipes, whistles), Borja Baragaño (uilleann pipes, flute) and Aaron Jones (bouzouki, vocals) among others to the line-up.
