Maria Mihailik - “Didn´t Make It“
On 19th April Maria Mihailik will be releasing her debut single "Didn´t Make It"
Maria Mihailik is a contemporary folk singer-songwriter currently residing in South East London. Maria released her demo, Constant Stranger, on Soundcloud in May 2023 and has performed in a wide range of venues across London, with some recent ones being the Camden Assembly, Star in Shoreditch, and the Lantern Society Folk. Her performances include a mixture of classic folk songs and originals, which fuse folk styles and pop themes, adding a taste of the present in an experience back to the better times.
Maria´s first official single, “Didn’t Make It”, will grace the scene on April 19th. It is the start of a project in which Maria hopes to release her debut EP. In an interview about the release Maria says:
“The period around when I wrote my song was definitely a rocky one in many ways, there were lots of different things going on at that time. I definitely feel like it took a lot of time for me to be able to feel like I know myself and have an understanding in what I want to do and how I plan to get there. I feel like this song is definitely encapsulating of that, I wrote it about a year ago and it feels quite rewarding to be able to work on it and play it live now because at the time I wouldn’t have been confident enough to do anything with any of music, which is kind of what the lyrics are about.”
“Didn’t Make It” is very much a first release, in which the instrumentalists are former school friends. However, it is sophisticated, soothing, and adventurous, with a tale most can relate to in their youth, a good but uncertain time. A song about self-actualisation and confidence kicks off an exciting project, which makes Maria definitely an artist to watch in the future.
