The Urban Folk Theory

The Urban Folk Theory

http://www.theurbanfolktheory.com

Urban Folk Theory have been emerging into the folk world since 2011 with a new approach to Folk and ceilidh; where excellent folk musicianship meets technology, sweeping you into the next generation of full tilt late night concert or dance extravaganzas.

We are aimed at attracting the younger audience back into the world of Folk and Ceilidh with our contemporary dance beats, bass lines, pads and sounds that are mixed with a “Ministry of Sound” club feel, with a fusion of the grooviest folk tunes and songs we can find…perfect to get the party started!

We have already played at several festivals including Towersey’s 50th, Broadstairs Folk Week and Bromyard to name a few and have been approached and booked by them and other main festivals for this summer. We can either bring you the Evolution Ceilidh with various callers and line up changes which starts with a Trio (possibly from a line up you allready have) and running right through to a full on Ceilidh band backed with pads, loops and sound effects alongside live Accordion, Fiddle, Bass and Drums! Not to mention whomever would like to come and do tune with us from the earlier line-up…or we can provide The Urban Folk Theory in it’s usual format.

Our full line-up is Phil Wilcox (Accordion), Harry Lee (Drums and percussion), Cate Bannister (Fiddle and Caller) and Nick Haynes (Bass and Track Composer).
