The Brook Inn at Plympton St Maurice has been run by the current landlord, John Govier, and his team since April 2014.
His aim has always been to create a warm and welcoming venue which not only supports local suppliers and producers, but also the local community as a whole.
The Brook Inn is a hub for lots of community activities such as line-dancing, Tai Chi lessons and watercolour art classes. It´s also home to many of Plympton U3A´s events and meetings.
John´s a former BBC Radio Devon producer and presenter who´s always had a passion for live music and remains an ambassador for the local entertainment scene.
In 2016, The Brook Inn won £5000 in a national competition, run by PRS (the organisation responsible for licensing music venues) which was spent on building a bespoke performance area which is used for a variety of live entertainment.
Julie Felix, Richard Digance, Seth Lakeman, Phil Beer and Wildwood Kin are just some of the musicians who have performed here.
