BettySoo

Raised outside Houston by Korean immigrant parents, BettySoo grew up listening to jazz standards and country radio. Hits led her to songwriters; listening rooms turned her onto the legacy of Texas song.
2009’s Heat Sin Water Sin produced by Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams, Ray Wylie Hubbard), built an international audience. In 2014, When We’re Gone, co-produced with Brian Standefer (Alejandro Escovedo, Terry Allen) placed her firmly in the first rank of songwriters today.
She’s played the festivals: SXSWs, Kerrville, Calgary; done the radio shows: E-Town, WoodSongs, Bob Harris; won the awards: Kerrville, Big Top Chautauqua, Sisters Folk Festival, MountainStage NewSong.
