A discombobulation and disintegration of music hall, parlour music and related Victorian and Edwardian filth and obscurity.
We humbly present to you the music of the Blood Tub Orchestra, a motley (as in the original meaning of rather blotchy) London based musical rabble (as in Websters definition of ‘ordinary or common people who do not have a lot of money, power, or social status’ or ‘a large group of loud people who could become violent.’). For the last 2 years this far flung ensemble have met in London, dredging up foul smelling lagniappes from demolished music halls, deconsecrated chapels, decaying docks, derelict factories and disappearing drinking dens, with a view to rouse the beleaguered ghosts of the past in the filth and squalor of the present.

The Blood Tub Orchestra are not an exercise in nostalgia or a re-working of the past into a new shape. They’re more a channel by which the past takes it’s revenge on the present.

Thus it was that the best and worst of the 19th century came to be exposed to the modernity of 2015 across venues around London and the South, featured on bills with the likes of Sleaford Mods and The Men Who Will Not be Blamed for Nothing, Burlesque Artistes and Comedians of various degrees of Talent.

A 4 track EP “We’re Glad You’ve Got a Gun” is currently available on lovingly faked 19th century vinyl and an album’s worth of songs from between 1880 and 1915 (with a couple of unpleasantly modern odes from the 1920s thrown in) has been recorded.
