Chris Amer
Scottish guitar player Chris Amer is slowly but surely establishing a reputation for his tasteful, distinctive, musically intelligent playing style. As a guitarist and composer, Chris has developed an original sound characterised by space, texture and carefully chosen notes. Playing electric guitar and a unique 5-string theorbed tenor guitar, Chris’s playing comfortably sits on the ever-blurring boundaries between jazz and traditional Scottish music.
Chris has performed with musicians such as Mike Vass, Charlie Stewart, Fiona Hunter, Scott Wood and Fergus McCreadie, and is the guitar player with pianist Dan Brown’s ‘Dreaming Of White Horses’ Ensemble amongst other things. In 2016, he recorded ‘Confluence’, an EP of original music with Catriona Hawksworth and Rosie Munro. More recently, Chris is a regular accompanist with extraordinary Scottish fiddler Ryan Young.
