The Dove and Boweevil Band are a six piece Americana, Blues and Soul band from Norwich with resonances from Derbyshire and North Carolina. Orchestrated by compelling duo Lauren Dove and Mark Howes on vocals and guitar they have vintage sounds and old souls. Constantly carving their own style whether acoustic or eclectically electric.
Dove and Boweevil released their debut album ´Getting Somewhere´ in March 2011 following an inspiring trip in pursuit of their passion of Blues and Soul from New Orleans to Chicago performing in Nashville, becoming a finalist in a songwriters competition at reputable Eddie´s Attic in Atlanta as well performances at Buddy Guy´s Blues Club in Chicago. There they reveled in witnessing the likes of Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker, and Mavis Staples.
In 2014 they were both nominated for best vocalist and guitarist in the British Blues Awards. Their song Listen Up has also been used in the film soundtrack Scar Tissue with a visit to BAFTA for the premiere and they have recently been featured on the Krossboarder Record label compilation.
Since forming, their last album This Life was nominated for best album AND best song in the IBBA´s, pick of the week on BBC Radio London´s Robert Elms show, a playlist of the month Future Radio, BBC Introducing song of the week.
´The music has a zest for life, the lyrics shine and the singing is full of tonal shapes and depths.´
´In the fens and along the coasts of East Anglia, the blues burn with a fervour that the devoted each bring to their own individual pilgrimages and pleas to the unconverted to join this happy band.´
