Eleni Era is a Cyprus-born, Berlin-based pianist, singer and choir leader. As of March 1st 2019, she can add songwriter to this list, with the release of her debut album Rise Love.
Eleni says of her music: “The album is confessional, a lot of these songs have been written during sleepless nights. I find salvation in heading to the piano, humming through a melody at 3 am, waiting for the words to come out so that I can listen to what they have to say. It helps me understand myself and I heal in the process.”
Eleni trained as a classical concert pianist, performing in concert halls around Germany and in venues like the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Kammersaal der Philharmonie Berlin. She also conducts the Berlin State Choir for girls. Eleni sings in both English and her native Greek and brings equal grace and conviction in both, while her musical skill on piano shines through in an assured yet understated way. There is a contemporary edge to her sound with the addition of synthesizer textures and looping techniques, partly reflecting the influence of her friend and collaborator, Cypriot producer Lefteris Moumtzis.
