Ernest Aines is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist whose soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics have led to nomination as Australian Folk Artist of the Year 2024. Ernest blends elements of Americana, alt-folk, and indie, drawing comparisons to artists like Ray LaMontagne, Bon Iver, Jeff Buckley, and Nick Drake.
His debut album Spiral Bound earned him a nomination for Best Folk Work at the Music Victoria Awards 2024.
With a voice described as “mesmerizing“ and a knack for weaving deeply personal stories into his music, his songs have a way of speaking directly to the hearts of his listeners. A review notes his “impressive combination of soul and heart that speaks right to you and has you feeling every ticking second”.
Ernest´s performances have taken him to some of the most prestigious folk festivals and venues around the world, including the Folk Alliance conference in Kansas City where a rendition of a traditional song he sand was archived by the Library of Congress. He also recently graced the stage at the iconic Cambridge Folk Festival and has performed at the renowned Celtic Connections in Glasgow in 2025.
