Frankenstein Bolts are a four-piece indie dream pop/jangle pop outfit from Wexford, Ireland. The band originated as Justin Cullen’s bedroom recording solo project, resulting in the debut album Slow Season. Guitarist Dan Comerford joined in 2015, followed by Tom Bates (Drums) and Paul Juggins (live sound, studio production).
In August 2017 the band, now a full-on live entity, released their ambitious second album Aglow & Spark to a rapturous media reception. The two-minute pop nugget ‘Anatomic Major’, accompanied by a simple but clever video shot by Comerford, received widespread radio and online exposure and was also included on the official Spotify playlist ‘A Breath Of Fresh Eire’. These critical plaudits were followed by an extensive festival campaign – Electric Picnic, Vantastival, Castlepalooza, Hard Working Class Heroes – culminating in two packed shows (one of them a live Eir stream) at Other Voices in Dingle.
A second single from the album, the dreamy ‘Night Whispering’, followed in October. Accompanied by another innovative DIY video, it made numerous song of the week bloggers’ lists and was played and praised by Nialler9, Dave Fanning, Paul McCloone, Dan Hegarty and Ed Smith.
A third single from the album ‘Languages (I Know)’, released in March 2018, featured a collaboration with Uruguayan visual artist Nacho Mancebo.
