Resting on the edge of the New Forest lies the small town of Christchurch where you´ll find ´Jake Among The Willows´. Together with his guitar ´Charlie´, he has been on a 10 year musical journey through Europe, Asia and Africa. Whilst on his travels Jake busked, jammed, gigged, toured and recorded alongside some very well known and accomplished musicians and, in his words, "completed my apprenticeship".
During his time at University, Jake formed a band in search for an individual sound. Experimenting with ´Fused Blues´, the band gigged at country pubs in the UK and in Cantinas around the south of Spain. After graduating, Jake moved to Spain in order to master his talent and develop his own sound. Surrounded by talented musicians, a supportive family and a fair few wonderful friends, Jake recorded a small album ´Groove On The Ladybird´, which he hopes to perform live in the near future with many musicians beside him on stage. Having returned to Dorset, his latest project ´Jake Among The Willows´ (The Animal Farm - London) is powerful, raw music that is heavily deep in emotion and perfect for big live audiences. His songs tell a story through a combination of colourful Folk, Rock and World music, fused with hints of swampy celebratory Blues.
Jake´s career highlights to date include when he was touring with the ´Short Fuse Blues Band´ in and around Spain. Being the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the group, the band accompanied some rather big names in the music industry. Paul Orta was one of these, a Blues harpist from Texas who in the past had played with the legendary BB King. Another was when ´Short Fuse´ supported Onieda James, Bass Guitarist for the late great Joe Cocker. However, Jake´s favourite and most memorable performance was at the ´Circulo De Bellas Artes´ in Madrid, when the band rocked a swampy tribute concert to ´Creedence Clearwater Revival´.
