JAVIER RUIBAL, composer, singer songwriter, writer of poetry, lyrics and prose, from El Puerto de Santa Maria (Cadiz), has been performing and producing music since the late 1970s, influenced by the sounds of the Maghreb imbibed from the radio, backdrop of his childhood, flamenco, jazz and rock. He is known for his masterful ability not only to compose beautiful melodies but also for his talent as a wordsmith. Driven by a passionate desire to overcome through sonorous means the discriminatory rigidity of borders, he aims for integration and bountiful intercultural connections now and into the future, a desire that has taken him to perform all across Spain, Algeria, the West Bank, New York and the UK. His songs overflow with emotion and luminosity that touch the soul. He has written for film (Goya Prize for Best Song for Film 2020 for “Intemperie“), TV, ballet and theatre.
