Joshua Arnold and Therine are a folk duo from the North West, consisting of multi-instrumentalist Joshua Arnold and vocalist Therine. As a live act they perform traditional folk music of the British Isles showcasing themes of the dark and macabre and 15th century hurdy gurdy music blended with elements of drone and noise music. Together (Therine: vocals, harmonium and drums and Joshua: hurdy gurdy, upright bass, guitars, saz and DIY instruments) they create their own dark, droning, instrumentally eclectic versions of songs in the British folk canon, alongside original experimental drone folk pieces and historically accurate charms and prayers from their first album; a concept album about 1612’s Lancashire witch trials.
