Raised in the musical traditions of the Outer Hebrides, Josie Duncan has long been able to exercise a deep understanding of Scotland’s music with her softly strong vocals, enthralling listeners everywhere. Since graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, she has performed all over Europe to rapt audiences. Josie was awarded BBC Radio 2´s Young Folk Award alongside guitarist Pablo Lafuente. Following the release of the duo’s debut album ‘The Morning Tempest’, the pair have toured extensively.

A diverse performer and a keen collaborator, Josie can regularly be seen performing with INYAL, a five piece innovative outfit pairing Gaelic music with the music of Glasgows underground Scene or The Tweed Project, a band exploring the traditional stylings from Scotland and England as well as with her own band, seemlessly pairing original and traditional material.

Whether performing alongside a band or as a soloist, Duncans approach to song offers many nods to the traditional but always feels modern, with a voice which is somehow delicately soft and yet rich and powerful at the same time.

“Effortlessly pure, supple vocals. It felt like a fresh breeze.“ - The Scotsman.
