Joy Becker
Joy is a multifaceted musician – singer, songwriter and violinist - who is as at home performing her own music at festivals and venues, leading an orchestra or touring with bands. Classically trained in the North of England and with a love of folk and world music, she wrote and performed as a singer/songwriter alongside her performance degree in violin at the Royal Northern College of Music. She has since forged a path which fosters as many of her interests as possible, from performing around the world as a singer/songwriter to exploring the more unusual and imaginative side of chamber music with the Florian string quartet..
Joy has received acclaim on both the alt-folk and classical scenes as a musician with depth and unique insight; her songs have been described as ´word paintings´ and her musicianship as a violinist ´something you can´t teach´. Her new EP ´From Within´ is due for release in early 2020. Joy loves cooking, dogs and travelling in her self-converted Sprinter van, Mary where she lives full-time.
