Kenny Gilmore and Friends bring a fresh, organic sound, fusing elements of Latin, Blues and African music together. Kenny’s original songwriting draws on grassroots influences from across the globe, following long stints living and playing in Louisiana, Malawi, Portugal and El Salvador. Over the years he’s opened up for the likes of Habib Koite, Malia, Vusi Mahlasela, View Farke Toure, and shared a stage with Seth Lakeman, Ismael Lo, Kenny Neal, John Lisi, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. He has topped the charts for months at a time in Malawi, and at a tender young age was the surprise winner of the legendary Louisiana Rebel State Harmonica Championship. A virtuoso on the harmonica, which combines to great effect with the sharp beauty of Fiston´s intricate guitar work, borne of a unique depth of experience in East African music. He has also played with Taxi Pata Pata, and Mose Se Sengo (“Fan Fan.“)
As well as leading the Zong Zing All Stars, he is a member of Afriquoi and also performs with Jaly osuso on kora. They will be joined by hot-fingered Portuguese guitarist Luis Ribeiro, who features in Kenny´s new project ´ Liferiver ´ - a musical journey around the world. Luis cut his chops playing against the stunning background of the Rio Douro in Oporto, Portugal
