Mim Grey has been called “the most beautiful voice to come out of the UK in a long time”, Mim is a one-of-a-kind singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
Born and raised in North London, her sensuous, soulful, country-influenced music has earned accolades from some of the most distinguished names in the British music industry and show business in general. Among others Mim has worked with Sir Tom Jones (Tom called Mim his favourite singer), Sir Paul McCartney and Kylie Minogue, supported the likes of Roxette and has achieved airplay on Terry Wogan and Paul O’Grady radio shows on national BBC Radio 2 as well as considerable airplay on BBC Regional Independent radio.
Her self-titled debut album ‘Grey Matters’ received critical acclaim, being described as “a subtle fusion of Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and John Mayer” with her bluesy, country influenced sound, deep thought-provoking lyrics and a unique blend of British and Americana roots music.
Embraced by the press and music fans alike, in addition to her two albums ‘Grey Matters’ and ‘Chasing Tigers’, Mim co-wrote ‘Xmas Kiss’ which was playlisted on BBC Radio 2 and is featured in the film ‘FOSTER’ starring Richard E Grant and Toni Collette. ‘Xmas Kiss’ also won the UK Christmas song of the year and was Christmas N0.1 for 2021 in the UK Country charts and N0.5 in the Nashville chart.
After losing her partner through cancer, Mim had a difficult personal situation and took the opportunity to step aside from the limelight and began to come to terms with everything spending time on other projects, from writing and collaborations in different genres to providing backing vocals with acts such as The Brand New Heavies.
Re-charged and re-focussed, Mim has realised that being a singer-songwriter in her own right was still very much what she wanted and her aim. With plans to re-group and make her way back to the fore, the initial plans were scuppered with the arrival of the pandemic, as with every other artist and the whole industry itself.
Now, for 2022 and looking forward with full confidence, Mim is working on a new album and planning UK tours both as an acoustic trio and with a full band to showcase and bring the album to the industry and audience.
Exciting times ahead, Mim is back and ‘roaring’ to go!
