Mouth 4 Rusty are a male/female duo playing songs about morality, love and loss, childhood, life in general and the relationships between ourselves.
Performing around London, Oslo and Wales since late 2009, Mouth 4 Rusty have supported Serafina Steer, Rozi Plain and This Is The Kit, while Laish´s Daniel Green has said that Mouth 4 Rusty set the bar for songwriting and that we are all running behind you grasping for truth words and sweet melodies.
Their 4th album, ´What´s Getting Somewhere?´ was released on Friday 16th August. Recorded in an ex-job centre gallery space in Deptford, SE London, the rooms make their presence felt with crackling overhead pipes and cars passing by as well as providing warm reverberation. The arrangements are sparse and supportive. Based around nylon-strung guitar and two voices, some songs bloom to include organ, piano, double bass, clarinet and, on two songs, brushed drums. Elsewhere, Emma adds touches of glockenspiel and melodica, as she does when the duo perform live.
Mouth 4 Rusty´s intention is to make simple, traditionally-inspired songs that people can relate to, hummable music based on life as it unfolds. As Rough Trade have said, Elegantly crafted hummable songs that you won´t want to miss out on. Mouth 4 Rusty light-heartedly call them ´tales of living softly on the edge´.
