Paper Sparrows are a three-piece contemporary folk/Americana group from Edinburgh.
Fresh from shows as part of Assembly Festival´s run at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2021, Paper Sparrows entered Chamber Studio to record their first full-length album. Their debut EP (Silver EP) was released on Folksville Records (see below) on 3 December 2021. The band´s album is scheduled for a 2022 release.
Songwriters David Hershaw and Ross Fairbairn developed their distinctive twin acoustic guitar style over years of joint song-writing - their arrangements drawing upon the work of artists such as Bert Jansch, Dave Rawlings and the Milk Carton Kids - alongside double-bassist Colin Morris.
The group hosts Edinburgh folk club ´Folksville´, which has become a hub for musical talent in the city. During the pandemic, the band ran high-quality online programmes featuring artists including Kris Drever, Katherine Priddy and folk legend Rod Clements.
