A casual observer astutely referred to “Simon with his beautiful, tender voice with so much passion”. Born Simon Berridge, he first hit the rock’n’roll road in his Ford Capri three decades ago, forming a succession of boldly named outfits before settling on an anagram of his own name (Bromide Singer)! Bromide’s story started in 1996 with the acoustic/electric “Iscariot Heart” album (featuring the excellent “Halo”), self-released on Simon’s own Scratchy Records. Bromide then became a band and produced the more indie-based “Fool In My Brain” 1997 single (b/w “Not Expecting You”) followed by the “If All Your Dreams Come True Where Are You Going To Sleep” 1998 EP (feat. “Proof”).

Simon then stripped the band back to a solo project and produced the “Stuck To The Sides” 1999 mini album (feat. the radio playlisted “Water Sprite”). The same year saw the release of the “Undercurrents” EP (featuring the sublime “Let You Down”). 2001 saw Bromide become an acoustic duo, first releasing “no.space.anymore.even.in.between.words” as a low-key mini-album (featuring the beautiful “ck”) before a fuller album (featuring the endearing “Snowblind”) release later in the year. As chief mogul of his record label empire, Simon took some time out to put out releases by other acts until returning to the fray with 2008’s electric/acoustic “The Trouble With…” album (featuring the enduring “The Unbearable Lightness Of Being”), before 2012’s “Some Electric Sometime” (featuring the unforgettable “Treasure Map”) marked the return to a three-piece electric band. 2015’s “I Remember” (featuring the epic title track) saw Bromide cement more as an indie-guitar rock band who went on to release 2018’s alerting “I Woke Up” (featuring the manic “Always Now”). As band members took paternity leave, Simon started stepping out solo until lockdown struck. Simon went back to basics and started playing regular online gigs from the comfort of his home and collecting a growing set of new songs and older songs that had been put aside from his band material. By the time live music returned Simon was ready to record and play his debut solo album “Following The Moon” (featuring the enchanting “Reflections Of Seating”).
