Sonya is a singer songwriter, known for her distinctive, lyrical, wide ranging vocals, variously described as ‘ Throaty Soulful Blues ’ and the unadulterated ‘ Voice of an Angel’. She accompanies herself on acoustic guitar.
Her writing is influenced by the lyrically rich, storytelling tradition of artist like Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Leonard Cohen ... ranging from mellow ballads, to songs with a drive and beat, drawing on Blues, Folk Roots, Soft Rock and Country traditions. She writes about love in all it’s forms, & how it affects our lives and moves us, from pain and passion, loss & redemption, discovery & self worth.
Sonya lives in rural Mid Wales in the UK. She’s been performing across Shropshire and Wales, for many years appearing at intimate venues, lively bars, and numerous large events and festivals, including Ludlow Fringe, Womens´s Festival, Llangollen Fringe, Landed Festival and the International Music Eisteddfod for several years.
