Taylor McCall

South Carolina
South Carolina’s Taylor McCall has announced a London headline show at The Troubadour on November 9th.
McCall shares, “London has had such important music scene that has influenced me deeply. I’m fortunate to get to play where my heroes such as Jimi Hendrix and Robert Plant have played.”
A most fitting venue for his debut headline performance in the UK, McCall will follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest guitarists and songwriters who performed at the legendary venue early in their career. The show follows the recent news of McCall being announced as a special guest on Robert Plant’s Saving Grace featuring Suzi Dian tour, which starts November 1st.
McCall says, “To have my first international tour to be opening up for an actual legend, in Robert Plant, is a dream come true. The venues we’re playing are absolutely historic and beautiful and I can’t wait to make my own history in them with Robert.”
The hugely talented singer, songwriter and musician will be performing songs from his debut EPs, which will feature on a CD entitled Taylor McCall, and his acclaimed debut album Black Powder Soul, which is out now via Thirty Tigers.
The album features the singles ‘Red Handed’, ‘So Damn Lucky’ and ‘Highway Will’, of which Rolling Stone praised, “a brooding debut…spooky percussion and a vocal rumble reminiscent of Johnny Cash’s version of ‘God’s Gonna Cut You Down’.”
McCall’s first memory of music comes from his grandfather’s guitar that was stashed under the bed. “The smell of its age I can still remember to this day.” Appropriately, it’s his grandfather’s voice that opens Taylor’s striking debut album, Black Powder Soul. Crooning an old slave gospel, it is not just an homage to his late grandfather, but a foreshadowing of what’s to come.
